Rainforest Experience at Hacienda Baru Reserve

​The Tropical Rainforest Experience is a four-hour hike in the jungle. It's a wonderful way to observe this fascinating environment with an experienced local naturalist who guide and has known the jungle since childhood. Walk through primary and secondary forest and spend much of the morning in the remotest parts of Hacienda Baru. During this trek we will walk on inclines and it takes a certain level of fitness. For Forest Experience we recommend you bring hiking shoes, binoculars, insect repellent and a bottle of water. The guides will carry telescopes to help you see the wildlife up close.

​Reto M.A.E is a hiking tour, for those who enjoy the backroads trails. It's a 3-hour coastal trail with incredible views passing by 5 beaches. You'll have the opportunity to see sloths, monkeys and more. From Quepos to Manuel Antonio there are 11 beaches total: ( Naomi, Macha, Lopez or Caw, Karolas, Tulemar, Biezans, Playitas, Espadilla Norte, Espadilla Sur, Manuel Antonio, Puerto Escondido)


Rainmaker Tour - Canopy & SuspensionBridges near Quepos

This tour begins with a river walk along the Rio Seco's edge. Handrails and easy-to-follow footpaths along with observation platforms allow you to observe waterfalls and capture, with photographs, the rich biodiversity this unique site has to offer. Rainmaker is home to Morpho butterflies, varieties of birds, the colorful poison dart frog, and thousands of unique plant species. Depending on the time of year, visitors are also afforded sightings of incredible reptiles and other animals that make their way down to the water. At the end of the walk, a pristine waterfall pool will beckon you to enjoy a refreshing dip. Continuing up the trails, visitors will come to the Canopy Bridge system. This system consists of suspension bridges. The six sections total 250 meters, spanning from platforms attached to massive hardwood trees to create the most impressive Canopy Walk in Costa Rica. The design permits minimal forest impact, giving our participants an opportunity to explore the majesty of the forest canopy from a bird's eye view.

Twilight Hike at Hacienda Baru Reserve

Limit: 12 people; Minimum: 2 people.


The nocturnal rainforest hike we call the Twilight Hike will show you what happens in the jungle when the sun goes down. The tour begins just before dark. An experienced naturalist guide will show you the wonders of tropical nature at a time of day when few venture forth. If reptiles and amphibians are what you hope to see, they are especially numerous during May - November. Rain is a strong possibility for this hike, please be prepared.



Night in the Hacienda Baru Jungle Camp


Price: $158 per person

Duration: 19 hours

Departure: 3pm. Reservation is required.
Minimum: 2 people.


The Night in the Jungle Tour takes you deep into the jungles of Hacienda Baru, where you will begin to discover the world of tropical insects and arachnids. After the hike up to the camp, sit and relax on the veranda as the sun goes down. Enjoy the sounds of the nocturnal jungle, with no one else around for miles. Your Naturalist Guide will prepare a traditional Costa Rican charcoal broiled dinner. After dinner, stargaze from a hammock, or discover dart frogs, owls, tarantulas, kinkajous and more. Wake up to the bird song and fresh coffee brewing. After breakfast and a hike back to the base, the tour will conclude around 10am.

(Night tents are permanent 3 x 3 meter tents with mesh sides and wooden floors. Single or double beds avail. Will fit a family of 4. Camp equipped with shared facilities of a cold water shower and two flush toilets)



Damas Caves Tour

​Costa Rica has more than 117 species of bats, and in Damas Caves, you can observe more than 10 species, including 2 species of vampires bats, one of them is the Saccopterix sp. Damas Cave is located 9 kilometers Northeast of Damas town. This place is rumored to be used by the indigenous people of the area, and was discovered in 1925, then studied for the first time in 1960 by an engineer Mario Sáez. The cave is 286,39 meters long, -21,60 meters in depth, and 45 to 50 meters up to sea level.
